I get a lot of emails and phone calls every week. Here are some tips on how to make your news tips or pitches stand out:

1. Be brief: I'm more likely to consider pitches that are no more than 250 words in length. In Microsoft Word or Google Docs, this is about a standard half-page length.
2. Include related media: If you are pitching me on a product, service, launch or milestone, please include any relevant press releases and supported materials. Copying and pasting the press release below the pitch is the best practice, because it's easy for me to copy and paste quotes for accuracy, rather than having to type them out by hand. Additionally, courtesy graphics and/or photos help the storytelling process on my end.
3. Include contact information: Include your name, email address and the best phone number to reach you. Also include social media links, like those to X/Twitter, Bluesky or LinkedIn, if you'd like to connect there. If you want to remain anonymous, please let me know at the beginning of your message.

I accept pitches and news tips on the following industries, products or services:

• Broadcast television
• Pay television platforms (cable, satellite, virtual MVPD services)
• Radio (broadcast, satellite, streaming)
• Streaming video (think Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, Prime Video, etc.)
• Sports media — how business, distribution, media and sports intersect
• Advertising and marketing, with a specific emphasis on broadcast TV, cable TV, radio and streaming

I will absolutely ignore pitches that:

• ...are rooted in "link sharing" schemes, including requests for "guest posts" that include "do follow" links.
• ...include dubious or questionable consumer surveys, especially when the originator has no obvious nexus to the industry being covered in the poll or survey (example: a gambling website asking consumers about their favorite streaming video platforms).
• ...require payment or a transfer of tangible goods in exchange for information.
